Momentum has been engaged to assist a large financial services firm headquartered in Texas in hiring its second employment attorney. This role will report to and assist the lead employment attorney in supporting H.R. with employee relations, HR policy issues on a global basis, dispute resolution, employment contracts, litigation management, and immigration issues, among other matters. Knowledge of the employment laws in Texas and California are preferred, as is experience working with outside employment counsels in the UK, Asia, and other foreign jurisdictions. This attorney will enjoy sophisticated work, reasonable and predictable hours, and the option to work remotely two days a week. Base salary will be very competitive with great benefits.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with HR to address employee relations matters and provide legal guidance.
- Assist in developing and implementing strategies for maintaining positive employee relations.
- Provide legal support on global HR policy matters, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Review and update HR policies as needed.
- Manage and oversee the resolution of employment-related disputes.
- Develop strategies for resolving disputes efficiently and effectively.
- Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts and agreements.
- Ensure contracts align with legal requirements and company policies.
- Assist in representing the company in employment-related litigation matters.
- Work with outside counsel when necessary to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Address immigration issues related to employees, including visa applications and compliance.
- Stay updated on immigration laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with outside employment counsels in the UK, Asia, and other foreign jurisdictions.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws in various international locations.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Texas.
- Experience in employment law, preferably in a corporate setting.
- Strong understanding of employment laws in Texas and California.
- Familiarity with federal and international employment regulations.
- Ability to provide legal guidance on HR policy matters.
- Experience in reviewing and updating HR policies.
- Proficiency in managing and resolving employment-related disputes.
- Problem-solving skills to develop effective dispute resolution strategies.
- Skill in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating employment contracts.
- Knowledge of contract law principles.
- Prior experience in employment-related litigation.
- Ability to collaborate with outside counsel on litigation matters.
- Understanding of immigration issues related to employees.
- Familiarity with visa applications and compliance.
- Experience working with outside employment counsels in international jurisdictions.
- Ability to navigate and ensure compliance with global employment laws.
