If you’re a legal professional who would like to relocate your talents to Austin, to be admitted to the Texas Bar you must first graduate from an ABA-accredited law school, pay an application fee and then pass both the Bar Examination and Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination. Once you’ve met those requirements and all others you will be formally sworn into the Bar.
To maintain a law license in Texas 15 hours of MCLE credits are required every year, including 3 hours of legal ethics or legal professional responsibility education. Attorneys newly admitted to the Texas Bar have two years to complete their initial 15-hour MCLE requirements.
