A global provider of consulting services in over 40 countries seeks an experienced litigation and employment/labor attorney to serve as a key member of its global legal department that provides support to management and operations globally. This attorney will be the lead employment counsel for the company and will report to the General Counsel and work directly with the Executive Team, HR, Group Finance, and other members of the Legal team to handle litigation, claims, and employment maters. Working closely with HR, this attorney will advise on policy and strategy and help improve employment practices to proactively avoid employee claims. Although based in the U.S., this role will have an international component on matters of litigation and employment.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary legal advisor on employment and labor matters for the company.
- Provide legal guidance to management, HR, and the Executive Team on employment-related issues.
- Manage and oversee employment-related litigation and claims, both domestically and internationally.
- Collaborate with outside counsel when necessary to represent the company’s interests.
- Work closely with HR to advise on employment policies and strategies.
- Assist in developing and improving employment practices to proactively prevent employee claims.
- Be a key member of the global legal department, providing support to management and operations worldwide.
- Collaborate with international teams on matters of litigation and employment law compliance.
- Ensure the company’s compliance with U.S. employment laws and regulations.
- Stay informed about changes in employment legislation that may impact the company’s operations.
- Assess legal risks associated with employment and labor matters.
- Develop strategies to mitigate risks and protect the company’s interests.
- Draft and review legal documents related to employment, including contracts, agreements, and policies.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in the U.S.
- Significant experience in employment law and litigation, including labor matters.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. employment laws and regulations.
- Proven track record of handling employment-related litigation and claims.
- Ability to provide strategic legal advice on employment policies and practices.
- Experience in improving employment practices to prevent employee claims.
- Willingness to work on international matters related to litigation and employment.
- Collaborative approach with global teams.
- Strong understanding of compliance with U.S. employment laws.
- Ability to keep abreast of legal developments impacting employment.
- Skill in assessing and mitigating legal risks in the employment context.
